Caleb Racey (Project Manager)

Cal Racey  is senior web development officer in Information Systems and Services (ISS) at Newcastle university. He has 6 years experience of web application provision.  He will act as both Project manager and key  technical implementer in the project. Cal has managed many web application projects from inception, to trial deployment, to fully supported embedded service and will do the same for the Gfivo Project. He was lead technical project officer in the successful JISC funded IAMSECT project.  He has given presentations on Shibboleth at JISC conferences, and to the Higher Education sector in general.  He has also hosted several successful regional workshops on Shibboleth.  He brings a great deal of practical knowledge of how to implement and apply sign on solutions like Shibboleth and make them practical and relevant to the general user population.

Richard James (Project Officer)

Richard James holds the post of Computing Officer in the project. He recently graduated from Northumbria University, with a first class Honours degree in Computing for Business.

Chris Franks (Project Officer)

Chris Franks is a Web Development Officer within the ISS Web Team.  In addition to system architecture expertise, Chris has experience in internet systems design and the deployment of web applications. He also holds an MSc. with Distinction in "System Design for Internet Applications" (Newcastle, 2006).  Chris has successfully deployed and adapted several web applications to use Shibboleth Authentication.

Jon Dowland (Project Officer)

Jon Dowland  (UNIX team ISS)  is a system administrator with 2 years experience in the university. He was a project officer in the successful JISC-funded IAMSECT project.  He has presented on Shibboleth, authentication and authorisation at conferences for UKERNA, JISC and the Higher Education Academy (HEA). He will act as a technical implementer in the project. 

Gavin Younger (Project Officer)

Gavin Younger is a system administrator with 10 years experience in the university. He ran the infrastructure of the JISC National Mailbase service prior to it's re-location to JISCMail. He is currently engaged in migrating the University's internal mailing list system to the use of Sympa, and has successfully converted the existing legacy authentication methods to using shibboleth. In addition to his mailing list work, Gavin has spent a considerable amount of his time providing system admin support for the University's ERP system (running SAP R/3). Gavin brings a great deal of experience  of the university infrastructure and data flows
