Grouper Deployment Update

Grouper and Syllabus Plus

Since the first deployment of Grouper to provision access to wikis throughout the University, it is now in the process of being rolled out to manage group access to a number of different resources and key University systems.

A current project by the University’s Student Progress Service, is to implement a new system for the management of room bookings using a resource scheduling solution, Syllabus Plus. One of the key requirements of the system is to control which members of the University can book particular rooms on campus dependant on the faculty or department that they are members of.

After reviewing the specification, Grouper stood out as an ideal solution to provide access control for the system. A demonstration of what Grouper has to offer was carried out, which proved very successful. The feedback was very positive, with the project officer describing Grouper as a perfect solution for the problem and being excited by what it has to offer.

The project is still in its early stages, further progress reports will be added in the near future.
